What to expect for your maternity session and what you need to bring with you..

You do not need to worry about what you do and don't need to do. We will work together to produce some precious images of your new beginnings. I have written this guide to help you prepare for your session and to help you decide if I'm the right photographer for you.

I always send a questionnaire to all my clients when booking full sessions to ensure I do everything I can to meet your needs.

For your photographs, it's best to show off your beautiful bump in your third trimester, after 34 weeks, so that it will be noticed! Wear something you feel comfortable in, that's the priority. A stretchy maxi or wrap dress/top is perfect and will really show off your bump, as will any figure hugging top, or you can go all out and wear a cropped top.

I have a small selection of maternity dresses in my client wardrobe if you prefer oner of them. See below the red, black, and white dresses.

In the studio I will ask you to do some simple poses and I'm open to any vision you have if different from my own. Don't be afraid to share any ideas you have.

On location I will give you a choice of themes such as wonderful woodlands, blissful beaches, or mesmerising meadows. These sessions are a little more creative. We will have the simple poses like in the studio and we can also have some action shots with different, natural backgrounds.

The only downside for locations shoots is if you wish to have an outfit change (or two..), it will need to be in a public toilet or outdoors.

It is not necessary for you to bring anything with you, however, if there's anything you would like to include in your photos, whether it be sentimental momentoes or fun, you are absolutely more than welcome to. These can be items like scan pictures, baby shoes, baby toys, baby outfits or even pets! We can get out some water-based paints and have a bump painting photoshoot.

If you decide to book a newborn session or milestone session with me, then we can also include these same props in these other photoshoots.

You may have photos including your partner, family members, other children, and pets. But it will be all about your beautiful bump.

If you are having the photo session with your partner, I recommend that you plan a lunch/dinner date for after your session. It make this an extra special day to remember. And why not go for a meal when you're looking so wonderful?
